TomTom Places now available in Ireland

TomTom’s unique local search engine, TomTom Places, is now available in Ireland, having recently been introduced also in Sweden, Austria, Norway and Spain.

Available online, as a smartphone app, or integrated into TomTom navigation devices and systems, Places lets users call or directly plan a route to a particular place taking into account the latest real time reports from TomTom HD Traffic.

TomTom Places provides a navigation-based search facility, helping drivers to find nearby shops and restaurants and choose the best places to go, thereby bypassing the requirement to sift through the irrelevant information that might be provided by a conventional search engine.

In addition to geographical expansion, over 20m new Points of Interest have been added to the service in the last eight months, taking the total to 26m.
