Summer holiday spending drops 25%

The amount of money the average person in Ireland will spend on their summer holidays has fallen by 25% from €794 in summer 2011 to €600 this year. According to a lastminute.com study, the Germans top the spending table at €838, while the Spanish are most likely to book a holiday within their own country. Majorca is Europe’s top holiday destination this summer with Lanzarote and Las Palmas in Gran Canaria the top two destinations for Irish holidaymakers, followed by Izmir in Turkey.
