Stars shine for McCabe

An all-star cast will stage a rehearsed reading of the latest play by the author of the acclaimed novel, The Butcher Boy, in Cork this evening (Friday). The free reading of The Stars of Bel Air by Pat McCabe will take place from 6pm at the Theatre Development Centre (TDC) in the Triskel Arts Centre.

The cast members, who have been involved in a two-week development workshop led by Corcadorca’s artistic director Pat Kiernan, include Barbara Brennan, who has appeared in The Clinic and The Tudors; Brendan Conroy, who won an IFTA in 2008 for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Kings and Peter Gowen from The Butcher Boy and The Tudors.

Maurice Seezer, whose work has graced the soundtracks of In America, Mission Impossible and Romeo And Juliet, is also on the creative team for the workshop.

Other cast members include David Herlihy, Kate O’Toole, Fiona Lucia McGarry and Aron Hegarty.
