Solo gig for Kent

A Knocknaheeny comedian will be performing alongside the likes of Neil Delamere and Jason Byrne at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Chris Kent is just one of a selection of local and national performers to take part in the annual event, which will be held across three weeks in Scotland’s capital city during August. “It’s for 30 days straight and you might get one day off in the middle. Other than that, it’s one hour a day of your own set and any others that you might do, like the Best of Irish,” says the 28 year-old.

As a prelude to the festival, Kent will perform his first solo show in Cork on Friday, March 2nd at City Limits Comedy Club, joined by New Zealand comic and Come Dine With Me winner, Danny Dowling. “I’m really looking forward to it,” he told Play.  “I have shows in Dublin and Portlaoise as well, but the Cork gig will be really special.” So what can people expect on the night? “I’m not sure really… actually sorry, I know exactly what I’m doing,” he jokes.

Currently based in Dublin, Kent has previously won the Bulmers’ Nothing Butt Funny Competition, an event for up-and-coming comedians along with supporting PJ Gallagher in Vicar Street and the Cork Opera House. Doors for the City Limits show open at 9pm and for more details see www.thecomedyclub.ie.
