The Peugeot 5008, Continental Irish Family Car of the Year 2011, is Ireland’s best-selling compact seven-seat MPV, with 391 new models registered in 2011 accounting for a 28% share of its market segment.

Closest rival to the 5008 was the Ford Grand C-Max, with 299 units registered, according to new figures released by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

Des Cannon, sales and marketing director for Peugeot Sales said the 5008 had attracted many new customers to the brand seeking a “stylish, economical and practical solution to family motoring”.

The 5008 people carrier with its raised driving position, offers improved visibility, a bright and spacious interior, easy access to the third row seats from the second with one easy movement, and greater legroom for third row passengers.

With curtain airbags for all three rows, child seat fixtures housed in row two, and an array of other safety equipment as standard, the 5008 has set new standards for MPV safety.

The 5008 is available in six-speed manual and ‘Ecomatique’ versions, which both qualify for Band B €225 tax, the ‘Eco’ gearbox offering an alternative to automatic drivers faced with high road tax costs.

The Peugeot 5008 retails from €27,690 plus dealer delivery related charges.
