Irish cycling legend, Sean Kelly, took time out of his busy schedule recently to launch the Donal Crowley Memorial Cycle in Blarney on Sunday February 19th.
Organised by Blarney Cycling Club with the Rebel Wheelers, a sports club for children and adolescents with physical disabilities, the event will have three categories: 100km leisure; 40km novice; and a 10km family fun event.
The nominated charities for this year’s event are Rebel Wheelers and Build4Life.
A lean and fit Mr Kelly told the audience at the recent launch that he was looking forward to Sunday February 19th, and cycling along with other enthusiasts of the sport.
He urged as many people as possible to register for the event on www.blarneycyclingclub.ie.
Riders in the 100km and 40km categories are scheduled to leave Blarney Village at 11am on the day, and head for Tower, with the 40km riders turning right at Shournagh Line. The Family Fun Cycle will start at 10am. Sign-on for all events will starts at 8.30am in The Blarney Castle Hotel.
