A exciting international cast is shaping up to participate in Ireland's most prestigious regatta, Cork Week, taking place at the Royal Cork Yacht Club, Crosshaven, this July 7th-13th.
Among the big names so far confirmed are Mike Bartholomew from Capetown, South Africa in his Mills 40 Tokoloshe. Bartholomew revealed he was participating due to Cork Week's relaxation of rules about sailors classed as professionals, which, in the past, would have prevented problems for Bartholomew and his crew, none of who are paid to sail on Tokoloshe, but who are classed by the International Sailing Federation as pros.
Others confirmed include Piet Vroon, now in his 80s, from Breskens, Holland, who will race his Ker 46, Tonnerre de Breskens, and a ‘prodigal son’ of the event, returning from Hong Kong, Jamie McWilliam, and his brand new Ker 40, Signal 8.
Anthony O'Leary from Cork Week's host club is delighted to be renewing old rivalries at the helm of his Ker 39, Antix.
