Cork based poet Thomas McCarthy will join the likes of Gerard Smyth and Jane Hayter-Hames in The Grain Store at Ballymaloe next week. McCarthy, who received the Patrick Kavanagh Award in 1977 for his first book and the American-Irish Foundation’s Literary Award in 1984, will take part in A Melody of Words- Poetry and Classical Music on Friday, February 24th from 8pm. Coupled with poetry, classical harpist Sarah Noonan will also perform pieces by JS Bach, Grandjany, Weiss, Hasselmans, Tournier, Dussek, O' Carolan and Salzedo throughout the evening.
