Generally passed down through generations of women, lacemaking is a rare skill and a particularly difficult one to pick up if you don't have a seasoned expert in the family. Luckily, there are experts in Cork who are prepared to teach you the basics so you can create your own fashion pieces, corsages, brooches and wraps; a dedicated Carrickmacross Lace and Irish Crochet course will begin in September and run for eight weeks at Carrigaline Community School on Tuesdays from 7.30pm-9.30pm.
