GAA club delegates oppose paymentsPremier preparations ongoing for City FC

Cork GAA club delegates this week unanimously voted down the possibility of introducing payments for inter-county managers.

At a meeting on Tuesday, delegates backed a motion by the executive of the Cork county board to support an option flagged by GAA Director-General Padraic Duffy in his discussion paper on the issue, which reinforces the GAA’s policy on amateurism.

While the meeting heard that payments to managers at club level was a problem that needed to be addressed, county board chairman Bob Ryan stressed that payments to managers at inter-county level was not an issue.

Meanwhile, four Cork hurlers will feature on the Munster Hurling panel for the M Donnelly Interprovincial Semi-Final against Leinster this Sunday.

Donal Óg Cusack (Cloyne), Pa Cronin (Bishopstown), John Gardiner (Na Piarsaigh) and Patrick Horgan (Glen Rovers) will line out with the provincial side for the fixture, set for a 2pm kick-off in Nowlan Park, Kilkenny.

The M Donnelly Interprovincial Football Semi-Final against Leinster at Parnell Park, Dublin, also this Sunday, was yet to be named at the time of going to press.
