Broadcaster George Hook is to MC a Dragon’s Den-style for new businesses in Clonakilty, which aims to harness the area’s entrepreneurial spirit in a bid to stimulate business growth.
Budding entrepreneurs are invited to submit their ideas for Clon’trepreneur to the organisers, Clonakilty Chamber of Commerce, and the top applicants will be interviewed for the final four who will contest the final, hosted by George Hook at Fernhill House Hotel, Clonakilty on Thursday May 24th.
Candidates will present their ideas to local business leaders and the public for discussion and critique. The winning idea will receive cash grant funding and free professional services from local business professionals to the value of €20,000.
And a Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to an existing local entrepreneur to acknowledge their contribution to the local community.
The second phase of Clon’trepreneur will encourage young students to engage with the local business community, inviting them to set up stands in the town centre to inform the public of ideas that they presented at the Young Scientist of the Year competition.
