Blarney GAA Club was the winner of the May/June inaugural Cork GAA Communications Award, an innovative new awards scheme that aims to reward excellence in club communications throughout Cork.
Sponsored by Compu B in association with the Silver Springs Moran Hotel, Cork GAA is also using the awards scheme to provide an incentive for local clubs to improve their performance in communications.
Blarney won the first of the bi-monthly awards for its informative, attractive and well updated website, blarneygaa.ie, which also includes full social media integration and other features that help the club to maximise its audience reach.
The club also produces a very impressive monthly newsletter which is available for download on their website and in hard copy for those with no internet access.
Nominations are now being taken for the July/August award, to be presented in early September, and the process is a simple one. Submissions should be emailed to pro.cork@gaa.ie for consideration by the judging panel County Vice-Chairman, Gerard Lane; journalist Denis Hurley; and Judy Hopkins of Hopkins Communications.
All forms of GAA communications are relevant, from websites and social media to local posters and signage, and photographs of such material can also be included. The closing date for receipt of nominations is August 15th.
