Anyone for tennis, as clubs mark Wimbledon finals

Wimbledon finals weekend is bringing out the best in local tennis, with clubs at St Michael’s and Lower Aghada pulling out all the stops for special events to mark the highlight of the tennis calendar and promote the sport to new players.

The fun starts at Lower Aghada tonight (Friday) at 8pm, with a strawberries and cream club night, with members encouraged to bring a friend to introduce them to tennis, and entry is just €5, with great prizes to be won.

Tomorrow, Lower Aghada is hosting an Open Day from 2pm to 5pm, to showcase the wide range of facilities available at the club, as well as the official opening of the club’s four recently resurfaced courts. Coaches will be available through the afternoon to offer advice to aspiring tennis players of all ages.

Also on Saturday, St Michael’s Lawn Tennis Club at Church Road, Blackrock, will be hosting a special ladies’ day event, to coincide with the Wimbledon Ladies’ Final; a fun occasion, at which the men of the club have agreed to cater, the event will take place at the club from noon to 3pm.
