A ‘monster’ event for racing enthusiasts

Motorcycle racing aces Michael and William Dunlop will be among the main attractions at The Monster Motorcycle Show, which returns to Cork next month.

The famed brothers will attend the event on Sunday February 19th, at Silversprings Moran’s Hotel Conference Centre, which is hosting a dazzling array of bikes and trade stands over two floors that will be a mouth-watering prospect for the 8,000 motorsport enthusiasts expected to attend.

All funds raised will go towards events run by the organisers, the Cork Motorcycle Racing & Vintage Club. The club will also make a donation to Cork-based charity Lisa’s Wish, which fundraises in aid of research into cervical and ovarian cancer.

Other special guests include motorcycle racing photographer and author Stephen Davison, while custom bike supremo Ger Conlon is bringing his award-winning Rattle ’n’ Hum creation, which featured at the Sturgis Custom Show in the US. A number of surprise guests will also attend.

As a curtain-raiser, Stephen Davison is presenting a slideshow the previous evening at 9pm, with a selection of images from the Munster 100 road races in Dunmanway and Timoleague.

Admission to The Monster Motorcycle Show is €10, with doors open at 11am. Tickets for the slideshow are €10 also, and available from Swanton Motorcycles, Togher, (021 4966305) and SBK Bikes (visit sbkbikes.com). A combined ticket for both events is available for €15.
